After weeks of international racing, Lucky Sport Cycling Team returned to Sweden for the final domestic races of the season. On the program were two very different but equally prestigious events: the first-ever Vårgårda GP and the traditional Anundsloppet, a true Swedish autumn classic often marking the end of the national calendar.
Vårgårda GP – Thompson Takes the Win

Lucky lined up with three riders for Vårgårda GP: Gustav Thompson, Max Nielsen and Johan Borgström. The course, a tight 2.6 km city circuit with multiple corners and sections on bike paths, was raced over 45 minutes plus three laps.
The plan was simple: keep the pace high, control dangerous moves, and be ready to counter. Max went on the offensive from the very start, but the move was quickly shut down. Attacks continued throughout the opening laps, and after 15 minutes Isak Magnusson (Motala AIF) slipped away. Gustav Thompson reacted, bridging across in an all-out chase that took three laps, while Gustav Reck (Mölndals CK) briefly hung on before dropping back.
With Lucky’s Thompson and Magnusson up front, Mölndals CK began to chase hard behind. But the two leaders worked smoothly together, keeping the bunch at bay all the way into the finale. Thompson expected an attack from Magnusson late in the race, but when it didn’t come he prepared himself for the sprint.

The final lap featured two sharp 90-degree corners before the finishing straight. Gustav led through both turns, launched his sprint early, and held off Magnusson in a dramatic bike-throw finish. Victory to Lucky Sport Cycling Team – once again on the top step.

“It feels fantastic to cross the line first and throw my hands in the air again,” said Thompson after the race.
“This win gives me great confidence heading into the final block of races in Belgium.”
Anundsloppet – A Classic Swedish Finale
Sunday brought Anundsloppet, a 90 km circuit race of 20 laps on a flat 4.5 km course with three corners. Originally, Lucky planned to start with five riders – Hjalmar Klyver, Viktor Lychou, the Wallinder twins and Calle Kagevi. But illness cut the line-up down to just Klyver and Lychou against a strong Swedish elite field, plus the added challenge of Norwegian standout Peder Dahl Strand.
The race opened at a furious pace with constant attacks. Both Hjalmar and Viktor stayed active, covering dangerous moves, but no breakaway managed to stick. With seven laps remaining it became clear: this would be decided in a sprint.
In the final laps, Viktor kept watch on late attacks while Hjalmar conserved for the finish. The duo entered the last corner in perfect position, third and fourth wheel. But hesitation in opening the sprint proved costly. Dahl Strand launched a long sprint that surprised the field, powering away to a convincing win. Hjalmar crossed the line in sixth place, while Viktor rolled in shortly after.
A Strong Homecoming
Two contrasting races, two strong performances, and another victory for the team. Gustav’s win in Vårgårda added another highlight to Lucky’s debut season, while Anundsloppet showed depth and presence against Sweden’s best. With the Swedish calendar now wrapped up, the team shifts its focus back to Belgium for the final races of 2025.
