Lucky Sport Cycling Team is proud to announce the signing of Joel Mellby on a contract running through the 2026 season.

Joel, a first-year U23 rider, has been competing this season with Mölndals CK, while also making appearances with the Swedish National Team and Svealand Cycling Team.

Results in 2025 include:

  • 20th – GC Tour of Estonia (2.1)

  • 43rd – GC Tour de l’Avenir (2.NCup)

  • 64th – GC Orlen Nations Grand Prix (2.NCup)

  • Stage win – U6 Cycle Tour

Before stepping into the U23 ranks, Joel spent two seasons with Svealand Cycling Team as a junior, where he built a strong foundation in race craft and development. Joining Mölndals CK this year, he took part in races across the Nordics, showing consistency in the Danish calendar and proving himself as one of Sweden’s top riders. Highlights include winning a stage at the U6 Cycle Tour and lining up for Tour de l’Avenir, the premier U23 stage race in the world, where he finished 43rd in GC and 27th in the youth classification.

Joel arrived at the team house in Belgium yesterday and, if everything goes according to plan, will already line up for his first race with Lucky Sport tomorrow.

Rider Statement – Joel Mellby

My first year in the U23 category has gone really well, and I’m looking forward to continuing my development and racing with Lucky Sport next season.

Head of Sport Erik Ekman on the Signing

Joel is a great guy I’ve worked closely with for the last three years. He shows determination and steady development, and I think with Joel in the team we have a rider who can really grow to become one of the leaders of the squad.

With Joel’s signing, Lucky Sport Cycling Team adds another talented U23 rider to the roster, strengthening the team’s future as it heads into the final part of 2025 and beyond.
