Lucky Sport Cycling Team is proud to announce the signing of Vilmer Ekman, who joins the team for the 2026 season. Born June 16, 2007, Vilmer is one of Sweden’s most talented young riders, stepping up from the junior ranks after two strong seasons with Svealand Cycling Team, Bauhaus Cycling Team, and the Swedish National Team.
Despite his young age, Vilmer has already proven himself to be a smart racer who often makes the right decisions during a race — something that has helped him achieve strong results throughout his junior career.
Highlights 2025 (Juniors):
12th – Paris-Roubaix (Nations Cup)
9th – Stage 4, Course de la Paix (Nations Cup)
1st – Climbers Classification, Sint Martinusprijs Kontich
8th – Points Race, European Track Championships
5x Top-10 finishes in UCI races
Highlights 2024 (Juniors):
3rd – Swedish National Championships MJ – ITT
Achievements across 2024 & 2025:
2x Swedish Cyclocross Champion (2024 & 2025)
2x UCI Cyclocross Wins
4x Swedish Track Champion

Vilmer has consistently proven himself as one of Sweden’s strongest juniors, excelling particularly in stage races with tough international competition. With his classic riding style and technical ability, he represents the next generation of Swedish cycling talent. He thrives in demanding races, especially the spring classics, where his handling skills stand out.
Vilmer has already joined the team in Belgium and has been training with the squad. He will also be in the team car for Sunday’s Gooikse Pijl as he integrates into the professional environment.
Rider Statement – Vilmer Ekman
I look forward to it. I’ve worked a lot with Erik Ekman and really like the way he coaches the team. I look forward to taking the next step together with him and to being part of the Lucky Sport squad next season, coming into a professional environment where I can develop.
Head of Sport Erik Ekman on the Signing
I’m super happy that Vilmer decided to sign for us. I’ve worked very closely with him and have seen a steady improvement in both his characteristics and strengths. Although he is young, he has quickly grown into the sport and will be an important piece of our U23 side of the team. I look forward to helping him improve and develop further.
With this signing, Lucky Sport Cycling Team strengthens its U23 foundation and continues its commitment to developing Sweden’s most promising cycling talents ahead of 2026.
